Description
Headway Birmingham & Solihull are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and creative CHARITY SHOP MANAGER to work Monday to Friday including alternate Saturdays (35 hours per week) at our Charity Shop based in Rubery, Birmingham.
Duties include:
1. Take responsibility for the overall management of running the shop. Cover at any other Headway shop if required from time to time.
2. Work with the Assistant Manager to ensure cover is always in place in the event of A/L, illness etc.
3. Ensure adequate volunteer cover for all days. Seek to recruit volunteers as required and train new volunteers in all aspects of the work.
4. Maintain a motivated, united, and happy workforce of staff/volunteers.
5. Ensure all monitoring of paper and electronic documents and accounts are accurate e.g. incomes sheets, sales targets/figures.
6. Ensure all policies and procedures are followed accordingly e.g. gift aid, volunteer inductions, Health & Safety.
7. Being aware of Trading Standards regulations, Health and Safety when selling items.
8. Ensure the takings are correct and match the income sheet, and deposited safely into the post office account each day.
9. Liaise with outside companies in regard to purchases, technical issues e.g. till.
10. Work to achieve and increase target sale outcomes for the shop.
11. Ensure that information about Headway’s services is given out with purchases and displayed effectively.
12. Set up effective systems for receiving, sorting and labelling items for sale and rotate merchandise accordingly.
13. Ensure adequate levels of stock are out on shop floor, out back in preparation, and actively seek new stock.
14. Aim to reduce the amount of items ragged to increase profits.
15. Actively promote donations from customers and local/wider community.
16. Ensure the shop is clean, tidy, safe and secure at all times.
17. Deal with customers politely and in a manner that encourages their return.
18. Be alert to/respond to and report any maintenance and Health & Safety issues.
19. Produce items for the HBS newsletter and HBS social media sites.
20. Liaise regularly with the Head of Operations regarding holidays, sickness, updates etc.
21. Assist with publicity, special events and other occasions arranged by HBS.
22. Undertake mandatory and any job related training.
23. Be part of the overall HBS staff team, working flexibly.
24. Attend meetings at Main Office, or any other HBS premises when required.
25. Undertake other tasks as may be agreed with the Head of Operations/Chief Executive.
