There has been a reshaping of internal structures to better support the work of the Diocesan Office in delivering the strategy of Living Christ's Story with the parishes and people of the Diocese of York. Sitting within Parish Support under the Deputy Diocesan Secretary, the post-holder will provide advice to parishes and colleagues on options around the arrangement and structure of benefices and parishes, managing and finding alternative uses for closed churches, and supporting the processes which enable matters to be dealt with in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
You will bring an enthusiasm for working with and for people combined with a commitment to accuracy, timeliness and good record keeping. You will bring vision, energy, creativity and determination - as well as an interest in, and aptitude for, working with legal documents - to advise on the ways of achieving the structures to support the delivery of mission and ministry in parishes. You will be encouraged to work closely with colleagues in the national church and our own legal advisors to build up your own expertise in this specialist area. This is a challenging but rewarding role for someone with a passion for creative thinking and good order and who is able to work independently with a wide range of interested parties.
We are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and especially welcome applications from disabled candidates and those from UKME heritage as these groups are under-represented in our staff. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and you will be required to undertake basic safeguarding training.
