We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced molecular biology scientist, preferentially with experience in modelling, to join our team of 8 staff members and a suite of contractors, working with the research department in our new lab in Dundee. The role will be on-site, where the role holder will collaborate closely with the rest of the lab team.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the CSO and senior science team to conduct cutting-edge R&D research in microRNA based diagnostics and contribute to ongoing and new projects.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent PhD graduate to deepen their research expertise, collaborate with international organisations and gain experience in academic and industrial research settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Design and Execution:
* Lead the design, implementation, and analysis of experiments related to microRNA expression profiling and modelling.
* Develop and refine research hypotheses and experimental strategies in collaboration with the senior team.
* Ensure high-quality data collection, interpretation, and presentation.
Data Analysis and Publication:
* Analyse complex datasets using statistical, computational, or experimental techniques.
* Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
* Assist in writing grant applications and contribute to project proposals.
Collaboration:
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, both within the company (laboratory, bioinformatics, commercial) and with external academic and commercial research partners.
* Actively engage in R&D team discussions, conferences and seminars to foster a productive research environment.
Project Management:
* Manage research timelines, deliverables, and budgets.
* Stay up-to-date with current literature and advancements in the field.
* Participate in regular lab meetings and contribute to strategic discussions about the direction of the research.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Ph.D. with experience in molecular biology.
* Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology techniques and skills, e.g. PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, etc.
* Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Essential Skills:
* Experience with microRNA research.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with multiplex assays.
* Oligonucleotide detection in tissues.
* Experience in data modelling.
* Multi-lingual.
