As Senior Financial Accountant, you will:

Month-End & Year-End Accounting Processes – Lead the delivery of the month-end timetable, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, reconciliations, and statutory compliance.

Process Improvement & Efficiency – Review and streamline accounting processes, identifying opportunities to enhance financial accuracy, automation, and system functionality.
*
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Controls – Coordinate the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring financial data integrity and alignment with organisational objectives.
*
Statutory Reporting & External Audit Management – Work closely with the Head of Financial Accounting to deliver statutory accounts, liaise with external auditors, and ensure compliance with UK GAAP and Charity SORP.

Tax & Treasury Management – Oversee PDSA’s tax obligations, including VAT, corporation tax, PAYE, and treasury functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Financial Systems Oversight – Act as a key contact for external auditors, HMRC, banks, and internal teams while serving as a super-user of core finance systems (Microsoft Dynamics BC and Compleat).
We’re seeking someone with:

Professional Accounting Qualification – Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or passed finalist with significant experience in financial accounting and treasury management.

Financial Reporting & Compliance Expertise – Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP, Charity SORP, and relevant tax regulations, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements.

Audit & Year-End Close Leadership – Proven ability to manage year-end close processes, liaise with external auditors, and complete audit-related tasks with minimal findings.

Advanced Data & Excel Proficiency – High proficiency in financial data management, Excel, and financial system reporting tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities – Ability to identify financial risks, optimise accounting processes, and implement continuous improvements.
*
Financial Systems & Ledger Experience – Experience with purchase and sales ledger management, treasury oversight, and financial system implementations.
