Job Overview: The Buyer is an important link in the company supply chain for maintaining standards of delivery to our customers. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring our customer demands are met whilst also ensuring the stock re-order levels are maintained and replenished in an efficient and effective manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Using statistical data to establish product requirements to meet customer demand whilst considering seasonal trends in the market.
* Creating purchase orders and raising orders with suppliers.
* Carry out goods inwards procedure ensuring a match/checking to purchase order and booking in of goods promptly.
* Reporting any stock shortages or damages to suppliers, raising return requests for credit notes.
* Awareness of stock storage methods, solutions and regulations.
* Assist in maintaining ERP stock listing to ensure it is kept as accurate as possible.
* Monitor slow moving stock lines to highlight to Head of Purchasing.
* Involvement with regular physical stock counts and stock takes within the ERP system.
* Assisting the Head of Purchasing with requested reporting.
* Highlight any areas for improvement in the ERP system within the stock module.
* Identify areas for cost reduction regarding all stock use.
* Answering calls/emails/any other queries for the department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Well organised and a logical thinker.
* Excellent team worker.
* Versatility to help other departments during busy periods when required.
* Drive, resilience and determination to get things done, make things happen and continually looking for better ways of doing things.
* Be able to follow procedure.
* Experience of procurement required, desirable if within the Food Service sector but not essential.
* Experience of goods inwards procedures.
* Good communication skills; verbal, phone & digital.
* Able to see tasks through and ability to work unsupervised.
* Working knowledge of standard computer packages essential, experience of Sage 200, Sharp-ax or similar stock control/purchase order modules desirable.
* You must be computer literate and have an understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Qualifications:
* A*-C Grade GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics, English and Science.
* Good methods of communication.
Specific KPI’s and Deliverables:
* All Goods in related problems dealt with and reported in a timely manner on the day received.
* All Goods ordered in a timely manner maintaining agreed stocked volumes and minimal stock shortages.
* Other KPI’s to be discussed during annual targets and performance reviews.
Development: Full in-house training of the ERP system will be given to the successful candidate with the opportunity to help develop the system further. Opportunity to grow with the company.
