The Role
The Purchasing and Stock Coordinator will be responsible for managing purchase orders, coordinating with our outsourced production, and maintaining our internal stores. They will be essential to the creation of Brill Power’s new and innovative battery management systems.
Reporting to our Head of Finance and Operations, the successful candidate in this role will be the first and main contact with our suppliers and will have a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced startup environment on cutting-edge technology.
This role is at Brill Power’s office in Oxford and can be full- or part-time, depending on experience.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Purchasing and Stock Coordinator that will manage our purchasing and stock and can support the changing demands of our organisation. You will be working closely with our technical team and suppliers.
Responsibilities include:
* Manage the purchasing function and develop successful relationships with suppliers, including negotiating terms and costs.
* Lead end-to-end purchasing process, including preparation of purchase orders, documentation, execution, goods-in receiving, inspection of purchased items, and resolution of any issues with the purchase.
* Develop and work within budgets for material purchases.
* Source electronic components and materials to forecasted budget and delivery plans.
* Maintain accurate computerised stock records and recording details of stock movement.
* Co-ordinate and expedite deliveries in and out of the business.
* Develop and apply knowledge of procurement basics, legal requirements, and ethical conduct.
* Contribute to the development and documentation of purchasing processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance within the department.
Skills and Qualifications
Required skills
* Minimum 3 years purchasing experience in a procurement role.
* Experience understanding of supply chain/distribution market (preferably in electronic or mechanical).
* Ability to manage several projects at one time and meet agreed deadlines.
* Excellent IT Skills, particularly MS Excel.
* Excellent communication skills with suppliers, verbal and written.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Experience of stock control/MRP systems.
* Experience in working for a company who is evolving from an R&D/Development stage towards marketing a product intended for sale repeatability.
* Experience and/or understanding of cross-border/overseas logistics.
* Familiarity with manufacturing within a high-tech SME, preferably using an outsourced manufacturing model.
