Purpose
Take on a new challenge and apply your skills in a new cutting-edge field working alongside dedicated and passionate teammates. You’ll support the Services Engineering business responsible for vehicles already in passenger service. During the apprenticeship, alongside your studies, you will learn about various train systems working alongside experienced engineers, taking ownership of work packages to deliver a technical solution with all supporting documentation. Work will range from small technical queries relating to parts overhaul up to full ownership of a work package on a major fleet modernisation. As your experience grows we can increase the complexity to make sure you are always challenged and interested in the work.
You will attend Birmingham City University on block release to complete the academic side of the course whilst getting hands on experience and learning from the company.
Key responsibilities
* Supporting work on in Service fleets owning work packages from the start.
* Acting as an interface with the Widnes workshops between the Production teams and Engineering
* Providing timely progress updates to keep customers up to date on their projects.
* Visit various depots in the UK to support fleet projects
* Visiting suppliers to support projects
Our Requirements :
* 3 A Levels or equivalent at Grades A-C
* 5 (or more) GCSEs at grade 5-9 (A*-C), including Maths, English and Science.
We will also be looking for candidates to be skilled in MS Office and database, along with having demonstrable organsisational and time management skills. Excellent spoken and written English skills are essential, as well as an understanding of the absolute requirement to observe health and safety measures.
Ideally, you will also be logical and an innovative thinker, who is proactive and an enthusiastic self-starter.
