Principal Infrastructure Engineer
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to join a specialist data centre services team based in Liverpool. This senior technical role is ideal for someone eager to lead the design, implementation, and improvement of large-scale compute and storage platforms within the health sector.
This is a hands-on position that combines technical design, implementation, and 4th line support while offering the autonomy to lead on innovative infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Infrastructure Design: Gather client requirements, develop innovative solutions, and deliver professional design proposals.
* Implementation Leadership: Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful implementation and seamless client workload migration.
* Technical Escalation: Act as the senior technical escalation point for the operations team, resolving complex issues and driving problem management.
* Security and Compliance: Ensure solutions adhere to centralised security controls and compliance requirements.
* Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with project and operations teams to produce clear, comprehensive documentation accessible to a range of audiences.
Essential Skills and Experience
* At least 5 years of experience in a senior infrastructure support/engineering role.
* Extensive experience in enterprise servers, storage systems, hypervisors, and operating systems.
* Dell PowerEdge Servers, PowerVault, PowerStore, PowerScale, and PowerMAX.
* Windows Server OS, Linux/Unix OS, VMware ESXi, and Active Directory.
* Cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and data protection.
