Dorset Healthcare is looking for enthusiastic and flexible individuals driven to provide an outstanding service. We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join our administrative team at Christchurch & Southbourne Community Mental Health Team.
You will be fully supported by an experienced Admin Team Leader and provided with all the training and tools you need to succeed in this role. Regular supervision, yearly appraisals, and opportunities to be creative and contribute ideas will foster a culture of continuous improvement.

You will need to be flexible to manage the workload of this busy Community Mental Health Team. We ensure our Trust values are incorporated in everything we do, providing a patient-centered approach with recovery and wellbeing at the forefront of our care.
The working hours are from 09:00 until 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a half-hour for lunch.
Your responsibilities will include providing efficient secretarial, administrative, and reception support for the team, liaising with members of the public and various professionals in primary and secondary care services. Given the nature of this service, some patients may contact us in distress; we are looking for resilient applicants, and you will receive training and skills to manage this. With a compassionate work ethos, you will thrive with the right level of support from the administrative Team Leader.
You will need a solid administrative background or experience as a secretary, with the ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively. An understanding of Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is essential, along with an outstanding telephone manner and excellent communication skills to handle difficult patients.
You should be organized, self-motivated, able to work to deadlines, and complete tasks with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will be responsible for keeping RIO, the Trust's patient record system, up to date, following data protection and GDPR legislation.
Your role will involve providing secretarial support to the team's Consultants, completing clinical correspondence and dictation, managing onward referrals, and arranging and attending various meetings as a minute taker.
An intermediate level of audio typing skills is required.
