Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee the development and delivery of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the North West of the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading company in the renewables sector, managing one of the most significant BESS sites in the region. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to work from home and on-site visits as required. Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Leadership: Manage all phases of the BESS project from planning through to completion, ensuring successful delivery within time, budget, and scope.
2. Stakeholder Management: Act as the key point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, contractors, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
3. Site Management: Oversee and coordinate on-site activities, ensuring smooth execution of construction and installation works, while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards.
4. Team Coordination: Lead and manage cross-functional teams (civils, electrical, construction, etc.) and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
5. Risk Management: Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and take proactive steps to manage issues and challenges that arise during project execution.
6. Scheduling & Budgeting: Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring that project milestones are achieved.
7. Quality Assurance: Ensure all project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, and comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
8. Health & Safety: Uphold rigorous health and safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment for all involved in the project.
9. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed project reports, progress updates, and presentations for stakeholders. Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up to date.
10. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of best practices and continuous improvement in project delivery processes.
Key Requirements:
1. Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in project management within the renewable energy sector, with experience in either civil engineering or electrical engineering projects (BESS, solar, wind, etc.).
2. BESS Knowledge: Experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or similar renewable energy infrastructure projects is highly desirable, though experience in related fields will also be considered.
3. Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, including experience with planning, risk management, budgeting, and scheduling. Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera is preferred.
4. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
5. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of either civil or electrical engineering aspects relevant to renewable energy projects, particularly with regard to BESS systems, electrical grids, or large infrastructure projects.
6. Health & Safety Awareness: Familiarity with industry-specific health and safety regulations and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe project site.
7. Qualifications: Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is preferred but not essential. Project management qualifications such as PMP or Prince2 are a plus.
8. Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel for site visits as required across the North West.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
1. Renewable Energy Experience: Any experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly with BESS, solar, wind, or other grid-connected energy systems.
2. Electrical or Civil Bias: Depending on your background, a strong understanding of either electrical engineering or civil works is beneficial.
3. Leadership: Ability to lead teams and ensure efficient project delivery through motivation and effective communication.
4. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate challenges in the project lifecycle.
5. Commercial Acumen: Understanding of the commercial and financial aspects of project delivery.
