Overview
The job holder will based at HMP Haverigg and will manage the delivery of forensic psychological services to the prison. The job holder will largely excel in the area of risk assessment and be a specialist in working with those convicted of sexual offending. They will also provide direction and support for other supervisors. The job holder will use their knowledge and skills to contribute to forensic psychological services to the prison and the management team.
Although based at HMP Haverigg, as part of HMPPS North West Psychological Services (NWPS) there will be the opportunity to contribute to wider NWPS work including supervision and line management of forensic psychologists in training and assessment and intervention work. The job holder will also be part of NWPS senior management team.
The job holder will be working with complex individuals and staff and applying their experience and competence in the area of psychology to reduce the risk of harm and re-offending by undertaking complex risk assessments, conducting research, providing consultancy and delivering training for staff and interventions (individual and group).
This is a non-operational prisoner facing role.
About HMP Haverigg
HMP Haverigg is based on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park. The lake district boasts England’s highest mountain (Scafell Pike) and deepest lake (Wastwater). It offers some of the most stunning scenery and has inspired artists and some of the country’s famous writers including Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. Lake Windermere, Kendal, Grasmere and Ambleside are all within accessible distance from HMP Haverigg.
The prison is built on an old 1967 RAF training centre which is adjacent to both countryside and seaside. It is a category D prison accommodating approximately 500 male prisoners, the majority of whom have been convicted of sexual offences.
It is an ideal location for those who enjoy outdoor life and access to the countryside and stunning scenery.
