About the role:
The University of Central Lancashire is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our Student Support team as a Student Support Advisor. They provide a gateway into Student Services in the Student Centre at our Preston Campus by offering a single point of contact for all student related queries throughout a student’s journey.
This role is focused on helping students make the most of their university experience by providing high-quality support for all aspects of university life. You will deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with students and staff in a busy, customer-facing environment, using effective listening and questioning skills to answer queries. This involves responding to initial inquiries via telephone, email, or face-to-face interactions, providing accurate advice and guidance, and maintaining clear and detailed records. Complex issues will be referred to specialist teams as needed. You will also promote Student Services through presentations and drop-in sessions on campus, as well as supporting key events such as applicant days, open days, and induction programs. Collaboration with colleagues and teams to ensure timely and effective resolutions is a key part of the role.
About you:
The successful candidate will have experience in a busy, customer-facing role such as a helpdesk, along with GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above or equivalent experience. Strong IT and administrative skills with attention to detail, a proven ability to deliver excellent customer service, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team are essential. A positive, adaptable approach and awareness of confidentiality are required, along with a commitment to the University’s values of Achieving Together, Being Proud, Creating Opportunity, and Supporting All.
The successful candidate will be required to work on a rota basis across the week including weekends, as well as some evenings until 7pm during term time.
