About the role
Senior Systems Engineers possess expertise in specific infrastructure specialisms and are responsible for the entire development and support process related to their specialism. You are responsible for delivering high-quality solutions for both colleagues and customers, with the impact ranging from saving time, effort, or money to redefining normal operations. You have up-to-date knowledge of the latest technology trends, along with practical expertise in the types of systems, infrastructure, and applications used within Tesco.
You will be responsible for
Design and deliver network solutions using existing network infrastructure. Where new Network technologies are being introduced, implement them, and establish the best practice for their adoption. Resolve incidents and problems associated with the technical area of responsibility.
Contribute to the Technology Roadmap for Tesco Network Services.
Evaluate new tools and techniques to be able to understand their value and impact.
Lead group design discussions on my area of expertise and be able to present with authority to a variety of audiences.
Collaborate with other technical teams to understand their requirements and assist them by consuming Infrastructure in the most seamless way possible.
You will need
Experience designing and deploying solutions for large, complex global organizations.
Analytical and structured approach to design, process, and advanced troubleshooting.
Work with Architecture to produce and maintain high-quality HLD/LLD and maintain standard documentation for areas of responsibility.
Well-organized self-starter who takes personal ownership and accountability at required levels of the work stream and project life cycles; willing to go the extra mile at every opportunity.
Builds and maintains positive relationships within and across teams.
Communicates effectively, able to deliver and present both written and verbal designs, strategies, and concepts clearly.
Required Technology Skills
* Networking Expertise:
o Design, build, and operation of large-scale multilayer switching and routing with Juniper (Mist), HP, Arista, and Cisco.
o Proficient in technologies like Multicast, Port Channeling, EIGRP, BGP, CDP, GLBP, VRF, and QoS.
* WAN Technologies:
o Knowledge of MPLS, WAN Optimization (Riverbed Steelhead, Cisco WAS), CoS, and DWDM.
o Experience working with global communication providers.
* Technical Knowledge:
o Deep understanding of OSI models, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, iGRP), DNS, DHCP, IP management, TCP/UDP, and IEEE 802 standards.
* Switching Architectures:
o Expertise in Cisco/Arista Spine/Leaf and Juniper/HP 3-tier (Core, Distribution, Access) architectures.
* Advanced BGP:
o Proficient in eBGP, communities, prefix lists, and BGP attributes.
* VPN Technologies:
* Skilled in IPSec, TLS/SSL, digital certificates, GRE, and DMVPN.
* Load Balancing:
o Experience with F5 appliances, Cisco ACE, and Citrix Netscaler for load and DNS balancing.
* Internet/Web Technologies:
o Understanding of CDN, proxy/caching, SSL offloading/interception, and URL redirection tools (e.g., Akamai, Bluecoat, Zscaler).
o Knowledge of HTML, and XML protocols.
* Network Management:
o Expertise in SNMP, NetFlow, IPSLA, and related network management/alerting tools .
