Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Radiology Department for a Band 7 Plain Film Superintendent Radiographer. The post holder will manage the day to day organisation and operational issues of radiographic services in the Plain Film Radiology Department, which will include Fluoroscopy and the daily operational oversight of the ED CT scanner. They will conduct diagnostic radiography examinations across a range of clinical specialities and more specialised modalities, upon a range of patient types both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi professional team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and requirements. The post holder will independently assess each patient and adapt radiographic techniques according to their needs. They will undertake an active role in the training of Radiography Students, Medical Students or any other Trainees from other Trusts or Universities. The post holder will use professional discretion and experience to ensure that clinical practice is carried out correctly, professionally and within the legal framework. Main duties of the job 1. To conduct examinations across a range of clinical specialities, including fluoroscopy and across a range of patient types both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi professional team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and requirements. 2. To interpret clinician's requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic technique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are of a high standard and patient care is maintained at all times. Information to be interpreted maybe complex in nature. 3. To assess and justify referrals under Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure)Regulations 2017, IR(ME)R following practitioner guidelines. 4. To use discretion to work outside of departmental standards when clinical circumstances necessitate i.e. undertaking additional or specialist techniques. 5. To independently assess each patient and adapt radiographic technique according to the needs of the patient. 6. To be competent in the use of all the X-ray equipment including computer radiography and digital radiography systems and to report and discuss all equipment faults with the relevant engineer. 7. To check processed images against accepted diagnostic standards, including patient details and to act appropriately according to findings.
