Your Role
It's an exciting time to join Stockport as a Residential Support Worker.
By joining us, you will have the unique opportunity to be part of our journey to shape the way the home operates and establish a nurturing and secure environment.
As a Residential Support Worker in one of our homes, you'll have a wide range of responsibilities that contribute to the growth and development of our children and young people. Some of the typical activities you'll be involved in include:
* Nurturing our children and young people's confidence and independence by assisting them with everyday tasks.
* Establishing structure, boundaries, and a sense of belonging.
* Creating a safe and comfortable space for meaningful engagement and building relationships.
* Providing opportunities to create lasting memories through various activities.
About You
We want to emphasize that while previous experience in a residential setting would be beneficial, it is not a requirement. What matters most to us is finding individuals who can showcase the following skills and attributes:
* A flexible and adaptable attitude.
* A commitment to providing high-quality care.
* An open-minded and patient approach.
* Collaborative teamwork.
* Clear communication skills.
* A creative approach.
About Us
Along with a dedicated and committed wider residential team we will support you to achieve the mandatory, nationally recognised, Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (within two years of starting) if you don't already have this.
So, if you are willing to learn then we are ready and waiting to invest in you, helping you to grow the skills needed to be an exceptional Residential Support Worker.
At Stockport Council we are one ambitious team on a mission to create opportunities for everyone who lives, works and spends time in the borough.
The successful applicant’s appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Please note that we have made a commitment to improve the employment opportunities for people with disabilities, care leavers and ex-military personnel.
Stockport Council is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce culture - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities to join our workforce.
