We are recruiting a team of passionate and committed Support Workers to join our NEW SUPPORTED LIVING SERVICE in Caerleon, Newport.
You will be supporting 3 remarkable individuals with Learning and Physical Disabilities.
There are full and part time positions available and relief posts.
Shifts to include days, afternoons, sleep–ins and waking nights on a fortnightly rolling rota.

What is the role?
This brand new service is home of individuals with Physical and Learning Disabilities. You will be working with these incredible individuals to support with day-to-day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support.
The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals.
The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies. You could be joining the people we support in going out and about in the community and provide them with new life experiences. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first-hand how you make a difference to them.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
Medication administration
Cooking skills and other household skills
Personal care needs
Moving and Assisting the individuals
Accessing the community and supporting individuals to local groups
Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities such as nature walks, swimming, listening (and dancing) to music, painting and going to the beach for fish and chips at the seaside
Supporting one individual to develop their speech
Maintaining current family and friend relationships
Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet
Being a team player and having good communication skills
Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard
Supporting individuals to budget finances
Supporting the individuals to appointments
Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing
Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence
A full manual driving licence is essential for this role as one of the individuals has their own car to access the community. You will be required to drive their vehicle.
Encouraging and supporting with cleaning, laundry and general household chores
Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working
Supporting Individuals with their individual needs
We also have Support Worker opportunities in other Supported Living Services across Newport.
What skills and experience do you need?
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs and learning disabilities is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives
A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player

What are the pay and benefits?
An hourly rate of £12.15 making the annual salary £ 23,376.6 (FTE).
