We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated registered nurses, both experienced and newly qualified to join us here on Peak View Ward at the Vale Community Hospital. We are a 20 bedded unit that provides specialised stroke rehabilitation, sub acute medical care, general rehabilitation and end of life care.

We are primarily a nurse/therapy led unit and there is a keen focus on discharge planning and positive risk taking. We are looking for individuals that enjoy working closely with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team but who can also work autonomously within set guidelines.

Whether you are newly qualified or have years of experience you will benefit from having have a tailored induction programme. During this time, and beyond, you will be supported by the members of the ward team together with our Teaching & Development Facilitator (sister).
Main duties of the job
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care needs of a specific group of service users
* Supervise mentor and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students
* Coordinate care for a specified group of service users
* Deliver a safe and effective patient centred care to our service users, their families and carers
* Ensure all clinical care requirements of patients are communicated effectively at ward handover to allow seamless provision of care from shift to shift.
* Undertake clinical audits to identify and improve patient safety and care.
* Responsible for the safe use, inspection, maintenance and security of all goods and equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained at all times.
* Responsible for the checking and safe storage of patients' property and valuables in line with the Trust's policy.
* To use non-medical prescribing or Patient Group Directives (PGDs) where applicable and to ensure that all duties in relation to medicines optimisation/management meet required professional and Trust standards.
* Implement and conform to Trust and Departmental Infection Control policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities
We provide a Multi-professional preceptorship programme that is aligned to the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing and have been awarded the Interim quality mark from NHS England. Our programme is provided to all Newly Qualified; Nurses, Nursing Associates, Internationally Educated Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Return to Practice Practitioners. In addition to the programme we also offer all preceptees the opportunity of enrolling and completing the level 7 (Masters) 15 credit validated module Preceptorship for Healthcare (AP7026).
Newly qualified Social Workers are offered the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme (ASYE) which is similar to a preceptorship programme.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in Nursing
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Understanding of Clinical Governance
* Knowledge of Safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberties process
* Knowledge and/or experience in rehabilitation and care of the stroke patient within the NHS
* Flexible and approachable
* Development of managerial skills to take charge of & lead a team
Evidence of ongoing development
* Evidence of knowledge learnt during training or post qualification
* Knowledge of rehabilitation, sub-acute and end of life care
