About the opportunity
The Jacobs Cities & Places team create thriving places across different scales - from regions to cities, neighbourhoods to individual buildings and all through an integrated design approach. Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, urban designers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients, both nationally and internationally.
Transport Planning & Mobility Solutions at Jacobs is one of the most successful teams of its nature in the UK and Ireland, with a varied client base, strong local pipeline of work and offers support delivery to project teams across the globe. Our regional team is involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering all elements of transport planning including active modes, public transport, policy & strategy formation, business case development, traffic engineering, highways development management, traffic modelling and economic appraisal.
We are looking for experienced Senior / Principal level Transport Planners to complement our growing team across the South West and South Wales. This role requires you to be involved in undertaking and managing the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport projects for a variety of our public sector clients. To be successful in this position, you must have detailed knowledge and experience of local transport planning and policy, transport studies and recognised transport appraisal techniques.
This role will allow you to pursue relevant business and technical training to support your career development as well as the freedom to grow your network and develop innovative solutions to chase new opportunities.
* This role can be based on a Hybrid basis from our Bristol, Exeter or Cardiff offices
* Full time employment with Jacobs is 40 hours per week - we are happy to discuss part-time and flexible working hours with you
Here's what you'll need
* To be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
* Have achieved or be working towards a relevant professional accreditation eg CEng or CTPP
* Extensive experience in the Transport Planning field
* A creative and solutions-oriented approach with a strong technical background and professional experience of a number of transport planning fields such as business case development, scheme feasibility, transport assessments and/or modelling
* Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as independently to solve problems
* Flexibility to manage a varied workload, assist with business opportunities and embrace new technologies, product solutions and the future evolution of the industry
* Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
* To be able to competently liaise and communicate with clients
* To be able to manage tasks using appropriate program, budget and quality controls
