About the role

You will use specialist engineering knowledge to make sure our products perform at the highest standard from the day they are launched to the day they are retired.
Here’s what you’ll be doing day to day :
* Using Best Practice Tools, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design for X (DFX), diagnose any quality issues in production or in the field and complete embedded software or firmware design updates on Sustaining products
* R esponsible for managing own investigations using structure problem solving (such as 5 Whys and Ishikawa ‘Fishbone’ Analysis), planning (AGILE Scrum and GANNT Charts), and liaising cross-functionally to ensure the project progresses
* Responsible for designing, coding, prototyping, scrutinising, and testing software and firmware source code and compiled code to validate a change and mitigate any risks.
* Supporting the Manufacturing Engineering and Customer Support departments in the collection of failure data to confirm the presence of issues in production or in the field
What you will bring to the role :
* You must have completed an apprenticeship, HNC, HND or degree, in an Engineering related disciplin e in the relevant areas
* Analyse, design, program, debug, and modify embedded software and firmware using high-level languages (C, C++, Python) and assembly code.
* Good working knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) for example Free RTOS.
* Experience of Hardware Description Languages, VHDL and Verilog.
* Good knowledge of assembly languages
* Experience of programming FPGAs
* Experience of programming microprocessors,
* Communications protocol and drivers’ investigation and resolution on CAN-Bus, RS232, USB2/3, I2C, SPI, Firewire, and Ethernet (TCP/IP)
* Ability to collaborate with suppliers
* Experience using structured problem-solving techniques
* A good networker who is also a supportive team player
* A self-starter – you can see what needs to be done and you make it happen
