Health and Safety Advisor
The opportunity for Health & Safety advisor:
To Join the Powertrain Test Operations Team at a prestigious automotive manufacturer in the UK, where innovation meets excellence. As part of the H&S team and as the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) officer, you'll be the conductor of our safety symphony, ensuring compliance with legislation and operational requirements.
Your mission? Working through all shopfloor and production related issues, to support and progress the handling and coordination of all H&S related issues and ensure efficient, safe, and seamless operations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities for the Health & Safety Officer:
1. Investigate and Report: Conduct thorough investigations into accidents and incidents, ensuring accurate and timely documentation and reporting.
2. Own the Metrics: Compile and present critical data that drives informed decision-making and keeps our operations on track.
3. Proactive Safety: Anticipate potential issues in new operations and facilities, ensuring safety without compromising goals.
4. Audit and Compliance: Conduct audits and support ISO 14001 & 45001 certifications, ensuring our projects and contractors meet the highest standards.
5. Collaborate and Communicate: Work with a diverse team across all levels of the organization, from directors to operators, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
6. Own processes/risk assessments and feedback any relevant information liaising with shopfloor staff to the suppliers.
7. Achieve and maintain HSE compliance across the department.
8. Complete accident investigations promptly and accurately.
9. Transfer knowledge effectively to operational teams.
10. Track and close out issues efficiently.
11. Deliver clear, data-driven reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
12. Develop and present comprehensive slide packs for quarterly feedback.
13. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and robust project plans.
14. Support external ISO audits and high-level H&S meetings.
15. Approve contractor job authorizations and conduct CDM 2015 audits.
Essential Qualifications:
* General Level Health and Safety Qualification (e.g., NEBOSH General Cert)
* Membership in a professional body (IIRSM or IOSH)
* Strong supervisory and management experience
* Ability to coordinate multifunctional teams.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Proficiency in MS Office
* Ability to mentor and train others
* Ability to challenge existing thinking constructively while building trust through experience and personal style.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Level 6 H&S Qualification
* Level 5 Environmental Qualification
* Degree or equivalent qualification
* Experience in delivering technical products in an engineering environment.
