Surgical Physiotherapist Practice Development Post

We are looking for a highly motivated Physiotherapist who has a passion for prehabilitation, respiratory and post-operative Physiotherapy.
You will manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and/or complex needs, using evidence-based practice and client-centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical setting.
You will participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice and service development within the area.
You will ensure development of staff and students through supervision, training and appraisal.
We are a large major trauma, multi-speciality hospital supporting both the local population and wider tertiary populations. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple surgical specialities such as:
1. Transplant
2. ENT/Max fax
3. Urology
4. Plastics
5. Vascular
6. Overnight Intensive Recovery
The team is friendly and dedicated towards the delivery of an excellent service for all our users, as well as constantly looking at better ways to provide a service. This opportunity is open to experienced Band 6 Physiotherapists who wish to specialise in the physiotherapy management of patients who have undergone surgery.
You will have the opportunity to improve your service development, audit, leadership and research skills.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard Physiotherapy Service to post-operative and trauma patients in the Surgical Wards.
To further develop skills in caseload prioritisation, service development audits and staff management.
To deputise for the Band 7 Team Lead and develop team management skills whilst carrying a complex patient caseload.

Job responsibilities
Our Physiotherapy Department has 200 staff and as a major teaching hospital, we place a high focus on lifelong development and training, as well as research. We strongly support staff education and have a generous system to support study funding and evidence-based practice.
Our service is pivotal to the flow of patients through the hospital and we have a supportive network of Allied Health Professionals. This role will allow you to progress and shape our services and continue to develop a robust physiotherapy provision for our patients.
CUH is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus which is the largest centre of medical research and health science in Europe.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
* HCPC Registration
* Evidence in engagement in ongoing professional development through courses or other learning opportunities, excluding work-based mandatory training
* Membership of a professional body, e.g. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or professional network, i.e. ICS, ACPRC, ACPIN
* Evidence of relevant post graduate level education
Experience
* Evidence of experience working as a qualified Physiotherapist in a range of specialities including:
o Respiratory Care
o Intensive Care
o Elderly Care
o Neurology / Neurosurgery / Stroke
o Musculoskeletal
* Evidence, with examples, of working in a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting to optimise patient care and service delivery
* Evidence, with examples, of the ability to work autonomously across a range of specialities, either lone working or with distant support only (i.e. weekend working)
* Substantial experience, with examples, of the ability to assess and treat self-ventilating and ventilated respiratory patients with or without a tracheostomy, who may be deteriorating, in a clinical reasoned and autonomous manner
* Experience of reviewing and applying evidence-based practice
* Experience, with examples, of working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in planning safe discharges from hospital, utilising available resources and services appropriately
* Band 6 experience or Senior Physiotherapy experience (i.e. responsible for the supervision and development of other Physiotherapy team members)

* Experience of critical care including experience, with examples, of working in a Respiratory Service, covering ventilated and self-ventilating patients
