As the Analyst you will work under the supervision of the Team Leader and/or Deputy Team Leader. You will apply scientific principles to perform routine analysis and characterization of samples within a 17025 Accredited Laboratory. You will support refining, catalyst and chemical production, development and/or other JM departments, focusing on skill development in instrumental analysis (primarily ICP-OES, ICP-MS and XRF) starting with routine analysis.

Shift pattern 5-5-4, with alternate early or late starts
Your responsibilities:
1. Prepares and accurately determines metal content and other properties of matrix materials.
2. Applies established instrumentation or analytical methods, to support refining, catalyst and chemical production, development, and/or other JM departments.
3. Compares instrument performance and/or assay results with standards, reporting any deviations from specifications to the Team Leader and/or Deputy Team Leader.
4. Prepares and maintains proper analysis documentation.
5. Closely interacts with production departments and provides analytical support to maintain highest product standards.
6. Maintains a basic understanding of production processes and establishes an ongoing proficiency with analytical and/or instrumentation test methods, related to customer specifications.
7. Uses all laboratory equipment safely, cost effectively and accordingly to job requirements.
8. May be responsible for the management of hazardous wastes in the lab.
9. Maintains a safe, clean and orderly work area.
Requirements for the role:
10. Degree or HNC in Chemistry, or equivalent industry experience (Essential)
11. Demonstrable experience of Laboratory skills. (Essential)
12. Strong safety awareness (Essential)
13. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Essential)
14. Good Organisational skills and ability to prioritise. (Essential)
