Description
Support Worker (Internally known as an Enablement Assistant)
Location: Locks Heath, Fareham
Employment: Permanent
Hours Per Week: Days and Sleep in's available
Hourly Rate: £12.50 per hour
Driver required
About the role
This role will be supporting two young brothers living in the Locks Heath area of Fareham. Both individuals have an autism diagnosis with a learning disability and will require support on a 1:1 basis throughout the day and 2:1 when out in the community. One of the young males also has OCD, and therefore an understanding of this is important.
The brothers are very active and like to be out of the house doing activities throughout the day. They enjoy various activities including football, bowling, gardening, rambling, swimming, trampolining, and canoeing. Team members will need to be fairly active and happy to enable daily schedules to run smoothly, ensuring activities take place as planned.
IPAD time is important too, and disruption to Wi-Fi or interruptions to this activity can cause upset and frustration.
The brothers have their own schedules and individual needs, which team members must learn and understand. Both have had a routine for many years; therefore, they require team members who understand the importance of routine and can reassure and prompt around what is planned during the day.
Ideally, you will have proven experience working with individuals who have autism. You should be patient, calm, reassuring, but also be fun, enjoy swimming, and be able to ride a bike.
