Hill House School require someone to lead Hockey at the school, who will inspire in girls and boys a love of the sport and who will set the highest standards throughout the age range. An ability to also coach one of the school’s summer sports and to teach some general PE would be an advantage.
The Sports’ Department plays a central role in the life of the school, with 12 members of teaching staff. In addition, a number of other members of staff coach sport and also take teams. Sport is led by the Director of Sport, supported by heads of the main sports.
The school has a competitive fixture list; we are county champions at Girls’ and Boys’ Hockey at most age groups and have also had recent regional and national successes at Hockey, and Boys’ and Girls’ Rugby.
Pupils enjoy a sport friendly timetable, Games afternoons, Games and PE lessons, opportunities for Strength and Conditioning, and a full programme of sporting activities after school.
A standard week would see approximately 30 fixtures played against other schools, ranging from elite 1st team sport to B, C and even D teams. A large number of pupils also play hockey at Doncaster and Rotherham Hockey Clubs and South Yorkshire. A number are selected annually for the Yorkshire Performance Centre, which is hosted at the school.
The successful candidate will be an excellent coach and inspiring teacher, and an interest in pupil recruitment will be important, including within our successful programme of Sports Scholarships. The ability to manage and develop fruitful links with county and club organisations would also be an advantage.
