Teacher Required for SEN School in Frome – 3 Days a Week Catering for Pupils with Complex Learning Needs and Autism Are you passionate about supporting students with complex learning needs and autism? Our SEN school in Frome is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join our team. This role is for 3 days a week, starting as soon as possible. Our school caters to pupils aged 4-19, with a diverse range of learning and cognition needs. You will work with a small class of 9 pupils, including students from Year 7 to Year 9. The pupils are working towards their personalized curriculum rather than being assessed against the national curriculum, ensuring their learning is tailored to their individual needs. Class Details: Class size: 9 pupils Pupils: 5 x Year 7, 1 x Year 8, 3 x Year 9 Ages: 4–19 years Special Educational Needs: A range of diagnoses including Down's Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Cerebral Palsy, and more. Learning Levels: All pupils are working significantly below the Age-Related Expectations (ARE) in all areas of their development. Communication Needs: A mix of verbal and non-verbal pupils; some use AAC (including Eye Gaze), while others use different communication methods. Key Responsibilities: Deliver personalized learning to support each pupil’s unique needs and abilities. Create a safe, engaging, and supportive classroom environment. Develop and implement appropriate activities that support students’ communication, cognitive, and social development. Work closely with other professionals (TAs, therapists, and support staff) to ensure each child receives holistic care. Use a variety of communication tools and strategies to support pupils, including AAC and mobility aids where necessary. Encourage the pupils’ independence and personal growth.
