Job Description
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
Labour Relations:
* Manage labour relations in alignment withorganizational strategies and manufacturing goals includingnegotiation and administration of collective bargainingagreements.
* Act as the managementrepresentative with Union officials on matters related todisciplinary actions promotions demotions transfers separationslayoffs and wage adjustments.
* Negotiate andsettle grievances under established procedures and ensurecompliance with regulations such as the Labour Act WorkersCompensation and Employment Standards.
* Preparebriefs for arbitration and labour litigation cases administer workrules and employee discipline and manage employee lost time andabsenteeism.
* Maintain records prepare reportson labour activities and trends and conduct orientation and exitinterviews for unionized employees.
Environmental Health and Safety(EHS):
* Maintain andcontinually improve the Environmental Health and Safety Programcoordinating ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 planning procedures workinstructions and audits.
* Perform environmentaland waste management control plan and implement actions to improveenvironmental standards and support emergency plans and responseteams.
* Identify training needs in cooperationwith HR present EHS reports in meetings and interface withmanagement engineering HR shop floor and contractors.
* Investigate health and safety incidents conduct safetysignoffs on new and reworked equipment and communicate EHS programinformation.
* Report to management on healthand safety performance and provide required reports to meetlegislative and company requirements.
Qualifications:
* Knowledgeable about health and safetylegislation in Ontario and environmental legislation in Ontario andCanada.
* Working knowledge of IATF16949ISO14001 and ISO45001.
* University graduatewith a degree in Business Administration Labour Studies Health& Safety Engineering or related college diploma.
* 35 years’ experience in a HSE LRposition
* Solid experience with Compliance– Policy – Procedures
* Union environment experience highly preferred
* Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes – plasticspreferred with experience in a plant / manufacturing environmenthighly desired
* Ergonomics studies or relatedexperience an asset.
* Experience with ISO– OHSAS
* Create safety culture– be on the floor and interact with employees
