Business Admin Apprentice

Hays Recruitment are looking for a Business Admin Apprentice in the Whitstable Area.
This role is to assist the Production Manager, and assist with the smooth running of operations by planning the production schedule and ensuring the plan is adhered to. This role also covers holiday cover of the Production Manager's purchasing duties and other Ad hoc requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deliver a production schedule that always shows visibility of firm orders for an 8-week rolling plan and incorporates the standard 20 working day lead time when appropriate.
* Review and adjust the schedule where needed, ensuring that any changes are agreed with the Production Manager prior to making the change. Changes must be recorded with detailed reason for the change.
* Determine the material resources required and ensure that the polymer purchaser has been given adequate time to ensure feedstock is available on site, taking into account lead times for raw materials.
* In conjunction with the Production Manager, ensure that the correct materials have been utilised for each job as detailed on the BOMs /works orders / production sheets. Raise any discrepancies with the Production Manager.
* Provide input to the F&OD for all Controlled Runs
* Maintain safety stock levels of finished goods for ‘call off' customers (Working with Production Manager) to ensure we have the correct balance of safety stocks in place with regular reviews to understand the levels of safety stocks required
* Booking FG into Inventory – cover for WH staff absences or in busy times
* Consumables purchasing coordination with other areas
* Keep SOP's updated
* Waste Management and Recycling for all jobs, including waste investigations for the Production Manager
* Stock codes set up – back up for Production Manager
* Produce production sheets / shop orders and labels for each material and perform all issues and completions
* Stock purchases of additives and colourants back up with Production Manager
* Liaise with the MD and SD for the purchase of raw materials as and when required and liaise with other internal customers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience or qualifications in the following areas, although training will be provided for the right candidate if necessary:
* Current First Aider at work certificate
* Experience of being a Fire Marshal
* Forklift truck licence – will be trained on site
* Manual handling
* Lean manufacturing
* Planning
* Purchasing
* H&S training
The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes
* Good communication skills
* The ability to question the status quo, problem-solve and identify solutions

* A positive outlook and a good sense of humour
* A good level of computer skills, numeracy and literacy
* IFS system
* Email
* Flexibility – we are currently a 24/5 operation, but do sometimes work weekends if necessary
OBJECTIVES/KPI's
* To facilitate the running of 15,000 tonnes per annum
* Waste to be kept at or below 0.5% of output value
* WIP to be completed by end of month – zero errors
* Talc, additives and pigment stock to be monitored weekly
* The production plan is to be completed by Friday, when covering the Production Controller role.
* Ensure sufficient raw material is allocated to cover the production plan
* Purchasing to be on time, on budget
* Offers of three quotes for all large expenses
* Training records to be live and up to date on the system
* Cost of quality to be kept to 0.5% of output value
* OEE to be at 85%
* Accidents to be kept to zero per month
