Our 70 strong team of lawyers advise NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and medical defence organisations on wide ranging and important issues providing intelligent and novel solutions and are described as ‘second to none’ by Chambers and Partners. The team is strengthened by a number of former doctors, nurses and other clinicians and is recognised for its knowledge of the healthcare field. The Role We are looking for a Solicitor (NQ-2 PQE) to join our Harrogate defendant Healthcare Litigation team. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of claims which are being pursued against NHS Trusts and/or General Practitioners. You will work on a wide variety of complex defendant claims covering all aspects of medical practice. You will also have the opportunity to assist Associates and Partners with high value claims and gain knowledge of the healthcare sector as a whole. Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to: Pre-action investigation of claims Litigation & costs management Interviewing clinicians and drafting witness statements Instructing medical experts Multi-party litigation ADR & mediation Preparation for and attendance at trials. There may also be opportunity to undertake secondments with our clients. Essential Skills & Experience: Candidates who are newly qualified must have completed a Clinical Negligence seat within their Training Contract. We are considering candidates up to 2 years PQE. Ideally, have relevant experience of defendant clinical negligence claims Excellent legal skills/knowledge and willingness to take on a varied and sometimes complex workload Excellent time management and organisation skills, including time recording Compliance with all internal & client protocols, including data security guidelines.
