Huntingdon Town Council is offering an exciting opportunity for the right person who is an innovative, forward thinking and proactive Head of Grounds Team Manager, to lead the council’s Estates Services Team.
The Town Council has recently opened a new purpose built glass house and associated depot building, both of which are heated via waste heat from the crematorium. In addition, environmentally the Town Council is progressively moving forward with innovative ideas and sustainable initiatives.
Candidates will be expected to have a significant experience in team management, maintaining sports pitch and public parks, play areas, horticultural; knowledge and plant propagation and be proactive in maintaining the Town Council’s record with Anglia in Bloom with themed bedding displays across the town, along with providing indoor plants for the council premises.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience: a track record of horticultural achievement and innovation, commitment to public service, be motivated, community focused, and possess sound managerial, communication and organisational skills.
The post holder should have a sound knowledge of Health & Safety and be aware of local government law and procedures, and be responsible for ensuring the Council’s Estates Services Team of Ground Staff are kept up to date with policies, training, privacy and data protection compliance, along with the assisting with the training and development of the councils horticultural apprentices.
Attendance at civic events (evenings/weekends) will be required, for which time off in lieu will be granted.
