HSE Assistant

We are recruiting for an HSE Assistant to work closely with the Manager for our client based in Grantham on a permanent basis.
The purpose of this role is to support the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager as the site is expanding, ensuring continued Health & Safety across the plan. As an HSE Advisor, you will support in delivering new HSE processes, building relationships with staff at all levels, conducting internal audits, and upholding safety standards.
This position works Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Key Duties Include:
1. Planning, booking, and coordinating all audit and accreditation.
2. Carrying out internal audits within the business (primarily ISO9001, 14001 & 45001), risk assessments, reviewing site processes, and supporting new procedure implementation.
3. Supporting in conducting regular reviews on health and safety policies and procedures.
4. Ensuring the control, fit for purpose, and accountability for all PPE on site and in use.
5. Maintaining a structured fire, first aid, and site inspections record.
6. Planning, booking, and coordinating all SHEQ training requirements and courses for staff.
7. Carrying out internal SHEQ training for employees.
Knowledge, Training, Experience, and Technical Skills Required:
1. IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) as a minimum, experience with operational safety including completion of risk assessments and procedural documentation.
2. Experience and knowledge in incident investigation and root causal analysis.
3. Good knowledge of HSE legislation.
4. Evidence of practical audit/inspection experience.
5. Experience of delivering training to personnel of all levels.
6. Strong PC and technical knowledge and skills with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, and Teams.
