Job Title: Registered Manager – Children’s Home Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (Negotiable depending on experience) Job Overview: We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new Children’s Home in Dunstable, and we are looking for a highly experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead the start-up of the home and ensure it operates effectively and efficiently from day one. The successful candidate will be instrumental in establishing the home's culture, processes, and systems while providing leadership to a dedicated care team. Key Responsibilities: Start-up Support: Lead and manage the start-up of the new children’s home, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and a smooth transition from planning to operation. Service Development: Develop and implement high-quality care services that are tailored to the needs of young people, ensuring they are safe, supported, and empowered. Team Leadership: Build, lead, and motivate a team of residential care staff, ensuring they are appropriately trained, supported, and managed. Provide regular supervision and performance reviews to foster professional development. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure that the home operates in full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, OFSTED guidelines, and company policies. Prepare for and lead inspections and maintain a high OFSTED rating. Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain the highest standards of care, safety, and safeguarding. Develop and implement robust systems for care planning, risk management, and reporting to ensure the welfare of all children and young people. Stakeholder Engagement: Build positive relationships with external stakeholders, including local authorities, families, and other agencies involved in the care of young people. Financial and Resource Management: Oversee the budget, staffing resources, and operational costs of the home to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the home remains responsive to the evolving needs of young people in care. Requirements: Experience: Proven experience working in a senior role within residential children’s care, with a strong track record of managing and leading a children's home to a high standard. Qualifications: A relevant Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). A candidate without this qualification will be expected to complete it within the first 12 months of employment. Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, OFSTED framework, and safeguarding legislation. Experience in starting up and developing new services would be a strong advantage. Skills: Exceptional leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to manage a team effectively, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Commitment: A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people in care and a commitment to creating a nurturing and safe environment. Desirable: Previous experience as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential setting. Experience in managing budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
