The Council is looking for two specialist plant operatives to work out of the Duns depot. This is an opportunity to join a successful organisation delivering a high standard of work throughout the year in Roads Operations, undertaking duties related to roads maintenance.
The main responsibility of this role will be as a specialist plant operative carrying out work related to road maintenance and construction using specialist plant machinery used in the road building and construction industry. The successful candidate will also be contracted to participate in the Council's winter maintenance operations and out of hours summer standby rotas.
The successful candidate will work within a team to ensure the provision of an efficient and effective road service, undertaking road maintenance operations competently to defined tolerances and standards, generally working in hazardous conditions beside live traffic or on construction sites. Engage with members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner, dealing with and reporting issues as required. Ensure that works are performed in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the relevant risk assessments and method statements.
Minimum Requirements
1. A basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
2. Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ II, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards)
