Young Person Criminal Justice Practitioner
Location: London
Salary: £26,250 - £34,650 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday is 9am-4:30pm
Please note that you will be required to work one evening clinic from 5 pm to 7 pm, on a rota basis.

At Insight Lewisham they provide free, confidential support for young people under 25, offering guidance on substance use, sexual health, and relationships to both young people and their families in Lewisham.
The Role
Do you have experience supporting young people, particularly those affected by substance misuse and involvement in the Criminal Justice System?
They are looking for a committed individual with expertise in substance use and a strong background in supporting young people at risk or involved in the criminal justice system. This role is centred on tackling substance use challenges, fostering recovery, and empowering young people to make positive, healthier life choices.
As a Young Person Criminal Justice Practitioner, you will be responsible for:
1. Providing tailored 1:1 and group support to young people struggling with substance use and offending behaviour.
2. Developing and implementing intervention plans to address substance misuse, reduce reoffending, and improve overall wellbeing, such as harm-reduction advice, education, and prevention strategies.
3. Improving outcomes for children, parents/carers and families of service users by reducing the impact of drug and alcohol related harm on family life and promoting positive family involvement in recovery.
4. Collaborating with Youth Justice Services, Social Workers, Schools, Health Services, and other agencies to ensure holistic support.
5. Acting as an advocate for young people, helping them access treatment, education, training, and employment opportunities.
6. Monitoring and evaluating progress, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with safeguarding and criminal justice standards.
7. Facilitating workshops and sessions on topics such as substance misuse, resilience, and decision-making.
8. Leading effective case management for allocated Young People, including ongoing processes such as risk assessments, risk management plans and safeguarding assessments and plans. This includes the effective use of an online case management system.
9. Identifying and preventing potential harm to Young People and others by following local and organisational safeguarding guidelines, including referral to and engagement with relevant safeguarding services.
Skills and Qualifications
To succeed as a Young Person Criminal Justice Practitioner you will ideally have:
1. Experience working with young people, particularly those affected by substance use and the criminal justice system.
2. Strong knowledge of substance misuse, harm reduction strategies, and safeguarding procedures.
3. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.
4. Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams.
5. Relevant qualifications in social work, youth work, substance misuse, criminology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
