ECOLOGY TEAM LEADER
LEICESTER, EAST MIDLANDS
Our client ia leading provider of high-end consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide. They combine the resources of a global, multibillion dollar company with local, client-focused delivery in more than 400 locations around the world. They are Leading with Science to provide sustainable and resilient solutions for their clients.Their Ecology team won the CIEEM Large Consultancy of the Year Award in 2023.
They are seeking a passionate and experienced Ecologist to leadlead and develop their East Midlands team whilst providing support to the ecology management team with business development activities. This will include providing support with and coordinating the technical elements of bids, tenders and framework opportunities
Our client pride themselves on their ability to offer professional ecology advice across a breadth of sectors including Residential, Defence, Energy, Government Services and Transport.
Examples of projects they are currently working oninclude:
* Protected species surveys and EPSLs for a large residential sites, including extensive offsite woodland creation and Animex Wildlife Bridge for Hazel Dormice;
* Water vole surveys and conservation licence to allow ditch management activities at military sites;
* Ecology surveys for onshore wind farms and solar farms;
* Bat surveys and EPSLs for Local Planning Authorities;
* Large scale bat surveys, EPSLs and supervision to allow upgrade of military housing; and
* Ecology surveys and management plans for large strategic development sites.
Skills & Experience
Given the variety of projects our client is looking for a talented ecologist who can confidently adapt their leadership and project management skills to develop client relationships and meet specific project requirements. As the regional team leader and an important contributor to the wider national team, you will develop your own and the teams expertise and business in a particular technical area - of specific relevance to the East Midlands team would be EcIA, HRA or European Protected Species expertise, especially bats and hazel dormice. You will be able to provide direction to ensure technical report quality, health and safety management and budget control.
Projects are focused in the Midlands region, however, our client operates a fully flexible, hybrid working system which allows their ecologists to choose where, how and when they work as long as their clients are receiving the high-quality service they expect. They focus on talent and skills, not postcode. The role will require working closely with the regional lead, mentoring and managing other ecologists and developing relationships with clients and colleagues from other teams so may require some time at an office or alternative working space to suit those involved.
