Health & Safety and Environment Officer £ Competitive DOE Coventry The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a HSE Officer for the DRVN Automotive Group. Working with key stakeholders and representatives within each of the group companies, the purpose of the role is to create, implement and drive a continuous improvement programme to achieve the best working practices for Health & Safety & Environmental Management Systems. Being able to create common working practices across a diverse group of companies will be key to the success of the role. Working with the Head of Group H&S Director, the role will also support the reinforcement of a H&S culture by setting up the infrastructure to support these continuous improvement activities as well as representing each of the companies in achieving any relevant compliance as part of the journey. Responsibilities Company Policies: Follow the health, safety, and welfare policies of the company To cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships Responsible for management of and liaison with HSE auditors to acquire/maintain Company’s accreditations Creation, Monitoring and Maintenance of the processes, procedures and templates referenced within the Integrated Management System. Generate KPI’s Coach, guide, advise and where necessary and instruct company employees including management on all HSE matters to ensure adherence to legalisation Plan and perform H&S audits, recording both successes and failings and monitor corrective actions to implement best practice Provide and/or arrange relevant training to internal personnel Ensure that the company processes are delivering their intended outputs Report on the performance of the HSE processes and on opportunities for improvement Ensure the promotion of customer focus throughout the organisation Ensure that the integrity of the HSE management system is maintained and continuously improved Carry out risk assessments, generate safe systems of work and consider how risks could be reduced Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered too Ensure working practices are safe and compliant with legislation Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policies relevant to the business Lead in-house training with managers and employees about all HSE matters and risks Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry Attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals Produce management reports, newsletters, and bulletins Ensure equipment is installed safely and generate safe systems of work Implement and chair regular H&S committee meetings Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g., asbestos (COSHH) Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases Manage and monitor emergency procedures, signage, PPE, COSHH control etc Must have IDLR/Full Rights to Work in UK - Sponsorship or Work Permits will not be accepted/ provided. Essential Skills NEBOSH General or equivalent qualifications Strong knowledge and understanding with Certifications within ISO 45001, ISO14001 Demonstrate a passion for Health, Safety & Environment with robust knowledge and understanding of these subjects Able to work as a member of a team, but also capable of working alone to tight deadlines as appropriate, setting own high-quality standards Able to lead others to understanding, capture or creating new and existing processes Demonstrate ability to influence others Able to coach others in how to create safe, clear and effective processes & procedures Proficient with MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint A strong working knowledge of Risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, and DSE preferably in a Manufacturing and/or Prototype environment A “hands-on” implementer of processes and change Full UK Driving licence and must be willing to travel.
