As Training Director, you will lead the development of DEEP’s innovative training portfolio, manage its delivery, and assess its effectiveness. You will lead and manage DEEP’s team of training designers; responsible for creating advanced, high-quality training programmes catering to exceptional people operating in the highly specialized and safety-critical fields of technical diving and submersible operations. DEEP is creating training as a product to advance humankind’s ability to access and explore our oceans. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, DEEP Institute, you will ensure that all training programmes meet the rigorous standards required for safe and effective operations, adhering to industry regulations and best practices. What you will need A deep understanding of adult learning and a commitment to innovation in training methodologies – you are already experienced in integrating new training delivery methods, including blended learning. You’re excited by the prospect of leading the adoption of cutting-edge training technologies, including simulation-based learning, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and e-learning platforms, which may be used to enhance the effectiveness of our training programmes. A proven track record in designing and executing successful adult training programmes in a commercial setting. Driving training programmes that are engaging, effective, and aligned with the latest pedagogical research. Demonstrable ability to hire, manage and develop a high-performing team of training designers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence, whilst earning the trust of subject matter experts (SMEs). You have mentored and developed training design teams, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth. Experience throughout the training cycle - from identifying training requirements based on customer needs, developing training curricula, ensuring exceptional standards of delivery & effectiveness and gaining external validation / accreditation. You have previously overseen the selection and management of external vendors, tools, and resources used in training programme development and delivery of training. Essential : A recognised qualification in training such as CTT or CIPD. Extensive experience in instructional design, training development, or a related role, including a significant time spent in a team leadership position. Demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget. Leadership skills, the ability to analyse needs and experience with contemporary training design and methods of delivery. Extensive experience in designing and implementing successful training programs, a deep understanding of educational techniques, and proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS). Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement. Hands-on experience with budget and project management. Desirable : A relevant master’s or bachelor’s degree such as Education, Instructional Design, Learning and Development, Adult Learning or a related field.
