About the Opportunity
Technology, Consulting, and Innovation (TC&I)
Our business is responsible for the largest independent nuclear laboratories in the UK, delivering projects from consultancy, assurance and regulation, through to test rigs and prototypes.
Our Engineering Development (ED) business delivers client-focused technological solutions to the most complex engineering challenges. Our breadth of capability, coupled with our facilities, enables us to bring the latest thinking and technology to market. We act as the integrator for these technologies; optimising solutions and ensuring that they can be deployed in challenging environments, while our core capabilities focus on experimental rig design and build, testing, robotics and remote operations.
As a Designer, you will contribute to delivering safe, functional, and innovative design solutions for complex engineering challenges. Your work will support the successful execution of major projects in regulated industries. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other design professionals to produce technical drawings and specifications that meet project goals.
You will also be responsible for:
* Translating concepts into visual models (e.g., 2D/3D drawings).
* Ensuring designs comply with industry standards and client specifications.
* Participating in design reviews and contributing to the aesthetic and functional aspects of the project.
* Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Inventor, Revit, and other software.
* Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outputs.
* Attending occasional site visits to gather information for design development.
* Liaising with clients and internal teams to gather requirements and ensure successful delivery.
Here’s what you’ll need:
* Qualification to HNC/HND standard in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Proficiency in Autodesk products, including AutoCAD, Inventor, and 3D systems.
* Familiarity with UK regulations, including LOLER and CDM.
* Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in Inventor, Revit, and BIM methodologies.
* Strong attention to detail and understanding of technical design standards.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Opportunities for Growth:
This role provides opportunities to advance to Senior Designer roles, where you will lead teams and oversee larger, more complex projects.
Our Culture:
Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity. We put people at the heart of our business and we truly believe that by supporting one another through our culture of caring, we all succeed. We value positive mental health and a sense of belonging for all employees.
We aim to embed inclusion and diversity in everything we do. We know that if we are inclusive, we’re more connected, and if we are diverse, we’re more creative. We accept people for who they are, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, mental health, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave. This is reflected in our wide range of Global Employee Networks centred on inclusion and diversity.
We partner with VERCIDA to help us attract and retain diverse talent. As a Disability Confident employer, we will interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a vacancy. We welcome applications from candidates who are seeking flexible working and from those who may not meet all the listed requirements for a role.
