Working in partnership with the NHS, Blatchford provides the orthotic service across the whole of Derbyshire.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Lead Orthotist to support our clinics across the Derbyshire region. Your key focus will be on clinics in Derby, Buxton, and Chesterfield, along with several additional satellite clinics. This is a highly varied role where you will treat a wide range of patients, including diabetics, paediatrics, and be involved in spinal work.
The role:
As Clinical Lead Orthotist, you will deliver orthotic services to the highest clinical and ethical standards. You will provide training and supervision to students, less experienced colleagues, and customers in all aspects of the service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Taking a clinical lead, dealing with complex or difficult cases
* Providing guidance to the team on the most appropriate clinical intervention
* Leading the orthotic team in outcome measurement
* Assessing, measuring, casting, fitting, supplying, reviewing, and adjusting orthoses as required
* Assisting in the development and maintenance of protocols, standards, systems, and administrative functions to ensure seamless service delivery
* Assisting with presentations, seminars, training, and educational events
* Leading the team in all aspects of clinical governance with the support of the Clinical & Contracts Manager
* Taking part in clinical audit and clinical research, liaising with both clinical and technical employees.
What are we looking for?
As Clinical Lead Orthotist, you will have:
Essential skills and experience:
* Qualified in Prosthetics/Orthotics
* HCPC registration
* Member of BAPO/ISPO (desirable)
* Experience in a wide range of orthotic provision including paediatrics, orthopaedics, and footwear
* Able to prioritise and manage your own workload and that of others
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with colleagues at all levels
* Ability to manage difficult, challenging, and sensitive situations
* Good judgment and decision-making skills
