We are seeking a highly motivated, forward thinking Band 6 Registered Nurse to work on our Surgical Assessment Unit covering general surgery, gynaecology, urology and plastic surgery. We offer a direct referral process from GP surgeries, providing nurse triage and assessment across all patient pathways.
We are looking for an experienced individual to embrace the fast paced nature of our assessment unit and short stay surgical inpatient beds. Alongside this, you will need to be a supportive leader and Nurse in charge of a team delivering care to over 600 surgical patients per month.
Your professional development will be tailored to your individual needs along with the opportunity to attend leadership courses, finance training and development of surgical skills, if required. Further patient assessment and triage training can be provided along with the option to complete a deteriorating patient course.

Shifts are based on a 24/7 shift rotation of long days (12 hrs) and night shifts (12 hr) to meet the needs of the service.
• To work with the senior nursing team to ensure the development and trainingof nurses within their wards/depts.
• Acts as deputy to the ward/dept manager and supports managerial aims ofthe ward/dept.
• Take charge of the unit on a regular basis supporting all staff on shift when needed.
• The post holder will possess excellent clinical skills and will supervise anddeliver direct patient care.
• Co-ordinate patient flow across the surgical floor (SAU, Ward 16 and Ward 18), ensuring appropriate patient placement and effective patient flow through the service.
• Under the supervision of the ward/dept manager assists in the managementof the team of nurses in professional and practice development.
