About the Job
In 2023, Belfast International Airport announced a development program valued at £100M over the next five years. The existing engineering and projects team will be enhanced by the addition of an Assistant Project Supervisor to assist with the Civil Engineering implementation of this capital program.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the airport’s future, reporting to the Project Supervisor, supporting the planning and execution of strategically important projects within a live airport operational environment.
Job Purpose
The job holder will primarily be responsible for assisting the Project Supervisor for the delivery of the apron, runway, taxiway, and car parks.
Main Duties
* Supporting the Project Supervisor with daily operations as required.
* Acting as the first point of contact on site for specialist subcontractors.
* Supporting the project team in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of the project to achieve the desired outcomes.
* Ensuring that all materials used, and work performed are as per specifications.
* Monitoring and interpreting the construction design drawings supplied by the design engineers.
* Day-to-day point of contact for contractor(s) to inform communication between airport departments, business partners, consultants, and contractors, involving frequent briefings and accurate record keeping.
* Positively influencing key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with the project.
* Playing an active part in the lessons identified process across all projects and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
* Participating in quality control as per project requirements.
* Contributing to and working to develop and maintain a culture of excellent health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors.
* Preparing reports as required.
* Taking a proactive approach to resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and associated reporting to the project supervisor.
* Assisting in all emergency incident management situations as directed by the Operations Duty Management Team.
* Participating in crisis management/business recovery procedures which in exceptional circumstances can result in being “called in” in the event of a major incident.
* Ensuring that all statutory and company regulations regarding health and safety, fire, and security are followed to protect airport users, staff members, and the business interests of the company.
* Ability to work flexible hours to facilitate any out-of-hours activity as and when required.

Essential Criteria
* Minimum of Level 4 qualification in relevant engineering/construction discipline.
* Full current driving licence & own transport.
* CSCS, CSR, SafePass or equivalent construction industry card.
* Minimum of 1 year experience in the construction sector.
* Demonstrated experience as part of a project delivery team.
* Demonstrated experience of record keeping.
* Demonstrated experience coordinating and supervising contractors/direct labour & trades.
* Working knowledge of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015).
* Working knowledge of software packages such as MS Word, Outlook & Excel.
