Job overview
The Oncology Unit is looking for a caring, compassionate and motivated person to join our close-knit team. We provide treatment and support to people with cancer across North Lancashire and South Cumbria. Working in oncology can be extremely rewarding, in the knowledge that you are helping others to navigate their cancer journey.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are assisting in the smooth running of oncology out-patient clinics and supporting patients and staff in the chemotherapy treatment rooms. The following outlines the main duties:
* Assisting in the smooth running of out-patient clinics
* Communication and emotional support of the patient
* Supporting nursing staff in the cancer treatment rooms
* Maintaining a safe, clean and healthy working environment
* Accurate documentation and communication
* Utilising trust and unit specific IT systems
* Clinical skills including phlebotomy and 12 lead ECG
* Assisting nurse led PICC insertions
* Clerical and organisational skills
* Serving patient drinks and lunches
Person specification
* Willing to learn and develop new skills
* Desire to work in Oncology
* Experience in health care setting
* ECG Training
