PURPOSE OF JOB
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing through planning, designing, setting up, modifying, optimizing, and monitoring processes whilst integrating HSE and Quality standards.
MAIN DUTIES
* Develop and support best practices including FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) studies, value stream mapping, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
* Drive root cause resolution of product failure, supporting 8D investigations and practical problem-solving exercises.
* Improve processes to reduce non-value-added activity while ensuring safety and product quality.
* Work on multiple Manufacturing Engineering Projects to improve Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
* Maintain and improve BOM, routings, and ERP system accuracy.
* Work with new and existing vendors to reduce cost on tooling.
* Extract data from CAD models to define BOM, routings, and tooling requirements.
* Effectively work with suppliers of engineering services at site.
* In conjunction with the Section Leaders ensure engineering standards are maintained and all activities are conducted in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner.
* Support the development of the lean culture.
* Liaise with other departments requiring advice and guidance on engineering subjects.
* Ensure that effective and regular communication takes place regarding project progress.
* Attend regular team communication forums and ensure that relevant information is communicated effectively.
* Develop and foster good working relationships with peers, related functions, internal, and external customers.
* Identify, specify, purchase, install, commission, test, and hand over new equipment, processes, or technologies in line with our manufacturing strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
* Bachelor’s degree or HND in relevant engineering discipline or 5 years’ experience in a similar role (essential).
* Lean Six Sigma certification to Green Belt standard (desirable).
* NEBOSH certificate (desirable).
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Experience in the aerospace industry and understanding of AS9100 standards (desirable).
* Knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical engineering (essential).
* Experience in a lean operating environment (essential).
* Experience working in a continuous improvement environment and implementing best practices (essential).
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (essential).
* Competent in the use of all Microsoft applications (essential).
* Competent in the use of ERP systems (desirable).
* Proven and effective analytical skills (essential).
* Proven and effective project planning skills (essential).
* Proven and effective root cause problem solving (essential).
