Health, Safety and Environment Manager (HSE Manager) Reports to: HR Business Partner (UK) In this position, you will act as the appointed competent person for Health, Safety and Environmental matters serving as the site lead for HSE across the site. This role will work in a collaborative manner with management and stakeholders to drive HSE initiatives that align with business needs and legal requirements. The HSE Manager will identify, implement and manage necessary building modifications to ensure a safe and compliant working environment for all. Additionally, the role includes oversight of people management and large-scale projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and promoting best practices in HSE. Your core responsibilities include : • Developing and maintaining HSE plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation • Tracking site and departmental HSE KPI’s, managing HSE budgets and addressing negative trends • Generating and submitting monthly HSE KPI reports to management and regional counterparts. • Generation and submittal of annual HSE reports to the Board and other key stakeholders. • Conducting regular H & S audits and maintaining a risk register to prevent accidents • Lead investigations, wherever required, on HSE incidents and implement preventative measures. • Certify equipment / processes for safe operation and promote safe methods of working. • Work in collaboration with the Facilities Team to ensure plant facilities meet compliance. • Work with the Facilities Team to monitor facilities equipment safety and manage correct actions aas required. • Implement and maintain ISO14001 – compliant Environmental Management Systems • Promote sustainable practices, including waste reduction, recycling and energy efficiency • Engage with stakeholders and regulatory bodies (as required), drive company sustainability initiatives and conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) as necessary. • Support sustainability plans that align with the company’s goals and objectives • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers; customers and regulatory bodies to promote sustainability efforts. • Track sustainability metrics and compile reports to evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives. • Develop company understanding of sustainability practices and encourage active participation and training. • Cultivate a teamwork focused environment, promoting continuous improvement and upskilling in HSE practices across all site. • Provide training and coaching across all levels, providing an emphasis on HSE involvement and supporting BCP testing. • Work collaboratively with the HR Department to implement wellness programmes that encourage healthy lifestyle choices in order to help reduce health risks and promote overall employee wellbeing. • Provide guidance and support to direct reports within the HSE team focussing on professional growth and skills development in health, safety and environmental practices • Set clear performance expectations, conducting regular one -to-one meetings and provide constructive feedback to enhance team capabilities and accountability. • Identify training needs and opportunities for career progression, ensuring team members are well equipped to support HSE initiatives across the organisation. Profile and Qualifications: • NEBOSH National Certificate or equivalent in HSE • Minimum of three years proven experience in HSE Management, preferably in manufacturing • Experience with EMS (ISO14001), facilities management, 5S, Kaizen and CE marking. • Experience is the field of Construction Health & Safety including a working knowledge of CDM regulations is preferable but not essential. • Strong work ethic, problem solving skills and resilience under pressure. • Positive, proactive attitude with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage across all organizational levels. • IEMA or equivalent environmental qualifications and mental health awareness • Proficiency with MS Office and ability to handle HSE documentation and audit requirements.
