Position: Quantity Surveyor
Client: Utilities Contractor
Project: Multiple utilities frameworks and standalone schemes including Havant Thickett Reservoir
Location: West Sussex
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000
B&B Construction Recruitment is delighted to be working with one of our leading specialist civil engineering contractors in the UK, renowned for delivering sustainable solutions across various sectors who have built a reputation for tackling challenging projects, particularly in flood defence along the UK's coastlines and rivers, as well as maintaining water sector infrastructure.
Key Sectors:
1. Coastal Protection: The group has undertaken significant projects such as the Elmer Beach Management Scheme, where they installed a 20,000-tonne rock revetment and placed 12,500m³ of shingle on the beach, protecting 325 homes.
2. Ports and Harbours: The company has a strong track record in delivering high-quality engineering within coastal and river ports and harbours, including projects like overall layouts, breakwaters, navigation channels, jetties, linkspans, berthing facilities, flood defences, and quay walls.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the cost control and financial performance of the project.
2. Prepare and manage detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
3. Procure subcontractors, review tender submissions, and negotiate contract terms.
4. Monitor project progress, ensuring that costs align with project milestones and work completed.
5. Provide accurate and timely cost reporting to senior management, stakeholders, and clients.
6. Administer variations, contract changes, and ensure proper documentation and agreement.
7. Ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
8. Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to resolve any financial issues or queries.
9. Conduct site visits to assess work progress and ensure quality control.
What We Are Looking For:
1. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction or civil engineering sectors.
2. Solid understanding of JCT and NEC contracts, with a focus on managing variations and claims.
3. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
4. Experience with project cost control, budgets, and financial reporting.
5. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
