We have some exciting career opportunities in homeless services, working in City of York Council statutory homeless sector within the Housing Options Team.
We are looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals to provide high quality housing advice and innovative solutions to people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
You will need good interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt in changing situations.
This role focuses on preventing and relieving homelessness and proactively exploring housing solutions. You’ll provide general advice and manage an active caseload with responsibility for statutory legal duties and decisions in accordance with legislation (Housing Act 1996 and Homeless Reduction Act 2017).
The role is within the Housing Options Team and involves a mixture of home and office working plus work in community settings.
Key skills and experience required:
* Knowledge of housing legislation, especially homeless legislation, landlord and tenant law and welfare benefits and debt work.
* Relevant advice work in statutory / voluntary sector.
* High standards of written and oral communication.
* Ability to interpret and explain complex legislation.
* Computer literate including knowledge / experience of specialist systems.

Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
