Responsibilities
1. Create study proposals outlining summary of study design.
2. Work with clients to determine whether Transpharmation can meet their needs.
3. Provide scientific expertise to clients by introducing efficacy animal models that provide translational value and help accelerate clients’ research programs.
4. Optimize study and costing procedures by increasing efficiency, ensuring cost recovery, and reaching the company’s projected profit goals.
5. Develop study protocols, oversee projects, and prepare final reports on contracted studies.
6. Collaborate with clients and team to establish an appropriate study design based on client needs.
7. Act as a bridge between client and operations throughout the study, keeping both parties informed of progress and feedback as necessary.
8. Maintain close communication with business development and finance departments for client accounts and invoicing upon each milestone.
9. Develop and optimize study and costing procedures.
10. Develop new study models based on market interest/requirements.
11. Ensure quality standards are maintained with respect to project deliverables and Sponsor interactions.
12. Provide a level of scientific interaction to enable effective discussions with clients.
13. Identify and discuss areas for future assay development for revenue growth with CSO/other Senior/Principal Scientists.
14. Provide advice on study pricing to Sales/Marketing.
15. Be available for internal discussions with the sales team regarding operational capacity and emerging client needs.
16. Understand potential cost implications of study amendments and advise the sales team accordingly.
17. Maintain close contact with relevant departmental managers to ensure team composition reflects market trends and demands.
18. File study amendments as necessary.
19. At study conclusion, provide interpretation of ongoing/completed studies to clients and address feedback as necessary.
20. Ensure appropriate analysis and interpretation of study outcomes.
21. Together with the team, prepare a report and be prepared to sign-off when necessary.
22. Provide scientific insight to help develop new service offerings or advance existing services.
23. Participate in business development activities as a subject matter expert.
24. Represent and market the company at scientific meetings and/or client site visits as needed, including international travel.
25. Act as the company’s primary resource in the area of expertise, providing leadership direction on all related issues.
26. Share technical and competitive information with colleagues and provide expertise to others when required.
27. Promote cooperation within the team and with other departments.
28. Explain techniques to new employees and visitors.
29. Provide training to staff as required.
30. Form close dialogue and trust with study coordinators and the technical team.
31. Ensure both study logistics and timelines are understood at all stages.
32. Understand the current technical capability of internal resources.
33. Provide hands-on support to the technical team as necessary.
34. Be aware of ongoing study issues and coordinate communication between Transpharmation and clients during the in-life study stage.
Minimum Requirements
1.1 EDUCATION
1. Veterinary or graduate level science degree or B.Sc. in a relevant field (e.g., Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, Veterinary Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology, Neuroscience) with at least 3 years of direct experience.
2. A higher degree (Masters or PhD) is advantageous but not essential. Preclinical expertise in rodent disease models with various endpoints.
3. Expertise in the design, development, and validation of preclinical studies for compound efficacy profiling and screening, including data analysis and report writing.
4. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
5. Ability to work well within a team, as well as independently and proactively.
6. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
7. Highly motivated and flexible in case of changing priorities.
1.2 EXPERIENCE
1. 3-5 years’ experience managing projects, research activities, and collaborative initiatives in a science delivery environment.
2. Demonstrated experience and comfort in managing animal studies.
3. Experience in the delivery of diagnostic or reference laboratory services under a quality system.
4. Experience in planning and managing human and financial resources.
5. Experience in managing communications and high-level preparation of study-related documentation.
6. Experience conducting safety and efficacy studies.
7. Experience handling confidential laboratory and scientific data.
8. Experience executing administrative strategies.
9. Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
10. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
11. HO licence 1-4 and 5, including rodent dosing, behavioral testing, surgical techniques, and tissue dissections.
We are particularly looking for expertise in Epilepsy/neuropharmacology models.
Salary range: £45-£49k per annum.
