Job Description The Role
We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor to work with primary and secondary students who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and develop positive coping strategies.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide in-class and out-of-class support, working closely with students who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. You will use a calm, patient, and supportive approach to help students succeed.
Main Responsibilities
Build trusting relationships with students and provide 1:1 or small group support.
Help students develop social skills, emotional resilience, and positive behaviour strategies.
Support students in classrooms, mentoring sessions, and structured interventions.
Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour calmly.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support plans.
Encourage engagement in learning and support students in achieving their potential.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
Essential Criteria
Experience working with students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or trauma.
