We use vast, diverse data sets from the whole Trust to produce Patient Level Costing Information for internal and external use. We have bespoke, innovative, continuously evolving reporting dashboards, and are always looking for new opportunities to utilise our data to help increase Trust income, productivity and help maximise Value for Money.
This is a key role within the Service Line Reporting (SLR) & Costing team, working as part of a team to provide robust quality costing information.

Main duties of the job
1. This is a key role within the Service Line Reporting & Costing team, working as part of a team to provide robust quality costing information.
2. You are required to analyse and process large quantities of highly complex information on costs, income and activity from multiple systems spanning the complete range of all the Trust's activities. These must be constantly reviewed to reflect the changes in the organisation, and be used to assist in generating regular, Patient Level Costing (PLICS) and Service Line Reporting (SLR) information and the annual National Cost Collections.
3. Making a direct and tangible contribution towards delivering the Trust's costing agenda and significant cost improvement programme; you will work collaboratively with the Care Groups and Corporate Efficiency Team.
4. Investigate income and expenditure financial codes to identify the correct treatment within the costing system. This may involve liaising with key members of the wider finance team to gain in-depth understanding.
5. You will extract data from various sources to create and update various spreadsheets and processes used for costing purposes, requiring a high level of concentration and advanced analytical skills.
6. You are required to understand the national and local requirements for the National Cost Collection.
7. You will attend meetings with the wider Finance team and Care Group management teams to support them to understand the service line reporting information.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* AAT Member or CCAB / CIMA studying or relevant degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience & Knowledge Required
* Previous NHS finance experience.
* Use of computerised financial systems.
* Use of Costing Software.
* Previous Costing experience.
Skills & Attributes
* Advanced user in Excel / spreadsheets.
* Use of Financial systems.
* Ability to manage own time / workload.
* A high standard of keyboard skills.
* An understanding of Service Line Reporting, Patient Level Costing, Payment by Results and current payment mechanisms.
* An understanding of the role.
* Use of Databases.
Aptitude & Personal Qualities
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
