Special needs teaching assistants in the heart of Wiltshire A special needs school in central Wiltshire are looking ahead and hoping to take on up to 10 special needs teaching assistants to staff their new site opening in September. This new development has been in the pipeline for the last two years since the school has been oversubscribed for so long. This is a unique and great time to join the school where they will be offering the successful candidates lots of training and qualification opportunities. This roles are all full time working Monday to Friday 8:30-3:30pm and term time only. Whilst the jobs are all long term contracts the school will be happy to make that get on well in placement on a permanent basis. What makes this school special? The school is based in an old Manor that was donated by the family who used to own it. The grounds the manor is on, offers students lots of outdoors space and greenery to immerse themselves in. The school gets students involved in gardening and growing fruit and veg, along with holding various animals on site for the basis of offering students animal therapy. The school is also part of one of the largest SEN schools in the UK and caters to students with a wide variety of needs including those cognitive, neuro divergence or physical. The team in place really go the extra mile to make education for these children comprehensive and inclusive. What are we looking for? - Experience in special needs, this can be from working in schools already or from working with special needs via care work. - Happy to do personal care. Whilst not all students will require this, there will be some that may need it, so being open to providing this will be required. - Some children can be runners for various reasons, so we are looking for people that are able to keep up with them to ensure they don't cause disruption elsewhere. - Have a compassionate and empathetic approach to children, along with patience to help students achieve their goals. - Due to the location of the school there is not really any public transport, so ideally we are looking for drivers. If you are passionate and interested in working with vulnerable children and showing them they can do anything they set their mind to. Get in touch. To work with children an enhanced DBS on the update service is required or be happy to apply for new one.
