What to Expect The Packaging & Warehouse Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of packaging and warehouse operations. This role focuses on optimising processes, reducing waste, and implementing best practices in line with lean manufacturing principles. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives that support the organisation's strategic goals in the automotive industry. What You'll Do Process Optimization: Analyse current packaging and warehouse processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement ‘One touch logistics’. Support the definition of lineside feed considerations to optimise material flow from 3PL to lineside, reducing lineside space utilisation Define, implement and manage packaging standards to optimise handling of components, including transport utilisation. Develop and maintain a comprehensive ‘Plan for every part’ PFEP database ensuring standardised data structures for cross functional business use. Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations and enhance productivity. Utilize lean manufacturing tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) to drive process improvements. Establish and maintain a returnable container management system to ensure supply chain visibility of McLaren owned packaging Support the optimisation of 3PL space and resource utilisation Project Management: Lead continuous improvement projects from conception through implementation, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, supply chain, and engineering, to ensure alignment and successful project execution. Monitor and report on project progress, performance metrics, and outcomes. Support vehicle launches for Logistics related deliverables relating to supply chain design and packaging Data Analysis: Collect and analyse data related to packaging and warehouse operations to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for improvement. Use data-driven insights to recommend and implement process enhancements. Team Leadership and Training: Train and mentor warehouse and packaging staff on continuous improvement principles and methodologies. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging proactive problem-solving and innovation. Conduct regular workshops and training sessions to build team capabilities. Quality and Compliance: Ensure all packaging and warehouse processes comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies. Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards of product integrity and customer satisfaction. Resource Management: Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimise packaging and warehouse operations. Work with suppliers and vendors to improve packaging materials and solutions, reducing costs and environmental impact. Performance Monitoring: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives. Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on operational performance and improvement activities. What You'll Bring Education: Bachelor's degree level or relevant experience in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging, warehouse management, within the automotive or manufacturing industry. Proven track record of leading successful process improvement initiatives. Previous experience in managing teams Skills: Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma certification is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficient in data analysis and statistical software. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Effective leadership and team-building abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
